VIRTUAL HEALTH CARE @ HPA

During the COVID-19 Pandemic, our office has adopted a hybrid model using Virtual Care and in office appointments to maintain physical distancing and limit the spread of COVID-19.

Virtual Care: FAQ

WHAT IS VIRTUAL CARE AND TELEMEDICINE?

Virtual care refers to are simply doctor-patient interactions that occur via e-mail or through a Web-based portal. They offer patients an alternative way to communicate with their doctors regarding health issues that do not require face-to-face contact. At Halton Pediatric Allergy, we have interacted and responded to our patients questions through this manner for some time.

Telemedicine is an extension of this virtual care. It allows Physicians and patients to share information in real time from one computer screen to another or via telephone. Using telemedicine software, patients can see a doctor for diagnosis and treatment without having to wait for an appointment. Patients can consult a physician at the comfort of their home.

WHY USE VIRTUAL CARE FOR AN APPOINTMENT?

We want to ensure that your concerns and health continues to be looked after while maintaining everyone's safety. Thus, your initial consultation with our office will be completed virtually (via telephone or other web-based application).

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR A VIRTUAL APPOINTMENT?

Once you receive a virtual care appointment DATE and TIME, you will need to complete the appropriate consent form for this.  NOTE: All forms must be completed 24-hours prior to the appointment.

WHAT ABOUT SPECIAL TESTING FOR MY ALLERGIES?

During your initial virtual consultation we will review the history and create a unique plan for what, if any, additional testing is required.

On site testing in our clinic can be arranged at a subsequent date and includes spirometry, skin testing, patch testing and oral challenges. While we are unable to offer on-site testing, we can discuss other methods that can be used to reach a diagnosis to assist your child.

HOW CAN I SHOW THE PHYSICIAN A PICTURE OF MY CHILD'S RASH/SKIN/REACTION?

Pictures are worth a thousand words!

Frequently, pictures will assist the physician in being able to discuss the diagnosis and help with management steps.

In preparation of your appointment, please email pictures to our secured front-desk account (info@haltonpediatricallergy.com) at least 24 hours prior to your appointment.

WHICH VIRTUAL FORM SHOULD I COMPLETE?
