VIRTUAL CARE AND CLINIC APPOINTMENTS
During the COVID-19 Pandemic, our office has adopted a hybrid model using Virtual Care and in office appointments to maintain physical distancing and limit the spread of COVID-19.
Virtual care refers to are simply doctor-patient interactions that occur via e-mail or through a Web-based portal. They offer patients an alternative way to communicate with their doctors regarding health issues that do not require face-to-face contact. At Halton Pediatric Allergy, we have interacted and responded to our patients questions through this manner for some time.
We will use virtual care for most appointments as the first point of contact and even at times within our clinic. Always confirm the location of your appointment with us and whom to contact us once you have arrived!
IN CLINIC CARE
Certain in office procedures have resumed and are arranged by appointment only.
To ensure your safety, here are a few of the measures we have put in place:
COVID Screening will be completed ONLINE and over the phone prior to your arrival to our office.
Remain in your vehicle until you are directly CALLED and directed to enter our facility.
Only ONE parent/guardian is asked to accompany a child during the visit to minimize traffic in the office. Other caregivers may join during the visit virtually.
A welcome station just inside the office door is now present where you will need to hand sanitize and have an adequate face mask/covering
Plexi-glass has been installed at the front desk to facilitate a safe and contactless checkout.
The waiting room has been modified to adhere to physical distancing guidelines and is cleaned routinely
We have removed all toys, magazines, and brochures from the waiting room to minimize high contact and difficult to sanitize areas.
High contact areas (door knobs, check out counter, chairs, etc) are cleaned and sanitized routinely.
Our staff and doctors will look a little different with the added personal protective equipment (PPE).
QUESTIONS ABOUT VIRTUAL CARE
WHY USE VIRTUAL CARE?
We want to ensure that your concerns and health continues to be looked after while maintaining everyone's safety. Thus, your initial consultation with our office will be completed virtually (via telephone or other web-based application).
WHAT ABOUT SPECIAL TESTING FOR MY ALLERGIES?
During your initial virtual consultation we will review the history and create a unique plan for what, if any, additional testing is required.
On site testing in our clinic can be arranged at a subsequent date and includes spirometry, skin testing, patch testing and oral challenges. While we are unable to offer on-site testing, we can discuss other methods that can be used to reach a diagnosis to assist your child.
HOW CAN I SHOW THE PHYSICIAN A PICTURE OF MY CHILD'S RASH/SKIN/REACTION?
Frequently, pictures will assist the physician in being able to discuss the diagnosis and help with management steps.
In preparation of your appointment, please email pictures to our secured front-desk account (firstname.lastname@example.org) at least 24 hours prior to your appointment.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR A VIRTUAL APPOINTMENT?
Once you receive a virtual care appointment DATE and TIME, you will need to complete the appropriate consent form for this.
All forms must be completed 48 HOURS prior to your appointment.
New or returning patients that have not been seen in the past 2 years, need to complete this a CONSULTATION form.
Follow up appointments, even for minor issues should complete a FOLLOW UP form to ensure our records are up-to-date.
